Today, we'll look at a Downgraded Sears, Former Montgomery Ward at North Riverside Park Mall. This store opened in 1975 as Montgomery Ward. In 2001, Sears decided to buy 18 stores from Montgomery Ward including 3 stores in Illinois. The now demolished stand alone Sears in Crystal Lake, the Sears in Peru that closed in October of 2017 and this one in North Riverside. In November of 2017, it was announced that Sears would downsized the North Riverside store closing the first floor but with a added bonus, remolding the store. On the outside as of March 2018, the month I went here, it looks awful but looks great inside. I should mention this but Sears had another store in the area at the Cermek Plaza near by which will be in a different blog, however it closed in 1993 with the stores in Lake Zurich and the one where I live, Fox Lake. Let's take a look at this Sears. Forgot but here's the link to the Sears news on Sears Holding website searsholdings.com/press-releases/pr/1755.
The Auto Center is still opened
The Depressing looking store
Nobody here on a foggy day
The R is gone making this more depressing
The Entrance is not available, only in the mall
Absolutely Nobody
Trucks for distribution
I love this late 90's, Early 2000's look of a Sears
Still opened on the top level
The First and Second level
The new logo is here
Newer signs
I always wonder my camera does this sometimes
A bathroom and a still operating Photo Studio!
