Sears Liquidation-Golf Mill Shopping Center-Niles, Illinois

This Sears at Golf Mill Shopping Center in Niles, Illinois opened on October 13, 1960 anchoring Golf Mill Shopping Center, at the time is was an outdoor mall. In 1985, Golf Mill became an indoor mall and cause the mall wanted to add Main Street Department Store, they added a wing and Sears was between the North and South Wing of Golf Mill cause like many people didn't believe that Sears would ever closed. Well, in October 2018 before Sears bankruptcy, a warn notice came out that Sears would closed at Golf Mill on December 16, 2018. This Sears was a busy location on the first floor but dead on the 2nd Floor as most people never went up there. The reason believed for the store closings is cause Sears sold there store to Sterling Organization, the owners of Golf Mill and they gave Sears a 1 year lease and the lease is ending but this isn't confirmed so the reason is still unknown. I did plan to come back a second time later in the liquidation process but was so busy I wasn't able to come back again. Let's take a look at this Sears.

My Favorite Photo Of This Store

The crosses are original to 1960

In the distance is the Tool department, however I didn't get any pictures there cause there were alot of people over there

Appliances which I personally think should have been on the first floor at this location

My biggest complain which this store is why is Appliances on the Second Floor? You can't enter from the outside to the second floor so why put it there. Yes there is an elevator but these things are heavy. They would have sold way more if these were on first floor.

You can see how busy to Shoe Department is like in every Sears liquidation and how much of a mess it is a little bit. The only shoe department during normal operation I've seen busy is West Dundee.

The Lands End Department, this was the second to last Sears in Chicagoland with a Lands End Department. Woodfield still has there Lands Ends. There is another Lands End which is a stand alone location elsewhere in Niles so area shoppers will be able to continue to shop at Lands End.

North Wing Mall Entrance, I thought this would look great with the tree in it as well
