Regency Mall, Racine Wisconsin

The Regency Mall opened on August 5, 1981 as a shopping hub for both Racine and Kenosha. The mall's original anchors were Boston Store and Bergner's. JcPenny would open later that year and Sears opened in 1982. You don't usually see Boston Store and Bergner's in the same mall. Bergner's than became Prange Way, than a Yonkers in 1992. Yonkers would close in 2001. Boston Store would eventually use the space for a second store. Similar to the still Kennedy Mall and Northfield Square. It would than become Steve and Berry's in November of 2004. They would relocate in the mall. So for the last time, the space would change to become a Burlington in 2008. Regency's good years started not happening when both Sears and JcPenny closed in 2014. On November 20, 2015, Dunham Sports opened in the former Sears and the former JcPenny became Ross Dress for Less, Party City and Joann. December 2016 was when the mall would be sold to the Hull Property Group who promised to redevelop to mall, yet haven't done anything yet cover vacant stores with walls. In April of 2018, the last original anchor Boston Store had announced to close at Regency Mall by June. I do have a few but not much pictures in Regency Mall. I didn't get the food court due to a security guard over there and the malls code of conduct said your usually you're not aloud to take pictures and that. But I did take some, let's get to the pictures should we!

Charlestowne Mall, St Charles Illinois

The Charlestowne Mall opened in 1991 as the mall in St Charles. The original anchors were Sears, JcPenney, Kohl's, and Carson's. The mall is very similar to the still operating Lincolnwood Town Center only that mall has 2 anchors. The mall basically killed another mall in St Charles, that being the St Charles Mall which closed in the late 90's after Kmart and Joseph Spiess closed. In 2000, JcPenney closed and quickly became Von Maur. The mall found compition as the Geneva Commons opened in 2004 which as lead the the death of Charlestowne. In January of 2011, Sears announced the the closing which was completed by April. In 2014, the Krausz Company decided to buy the mall and redevelop it by demolishing the Sears wing. One problem, it didn't happen which might have had Kohl's closed the location in Mid 2016 cause Kohl's was going to stay there for the renovation but the renovation never happened. In November 2017, it was announced that the Charlestowne Mall in St Charles would permently closed on December 1, 2017. Carson's, Von Maur and Classic Cinemas would stay. In April of 2018, Carson's parent company Bon-Ton filed for Chapter 7 and announced the going out of business which will leave only Von Maur as the only anchor left. Lets take a look at the 2nd to last day.

Retail Look: Former Omni Superstore, Prospect Heights Illinois

Today, we'll look at a former Omni Superstore in Prospect Heights. I should quickly mention this but the towns name actually comes from the two towns they are between. Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect. This store opened in 1988 in a shopping center anchored by them. In 1999, this store was converted to a Dominicks and surprise enough stayed until 2004. After that it was vacant for a long time till January 2014 when Ultra Foods opened, this store failed and closed in January 2016. This stores grand opening is actually location: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXmUdvcDdus. The entire company would go out of business last year. On May 18, 2016, Tony's Fresh Market opened in the former stores and continues to gladly stay opened. I've been here some times and I like shopping here. For Ultra Foods and Tony's Fresh Market, this is the most north they have got which makes these the closest stores to me. The Former Omni part is still exist today except for some changes but not much. The two links I'll put are the grand opening of Tony's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEvx4G-hWso and the blog that I did on the Former Omni Superstores which you can still see the store vacant: http://midwestreal.blogspot.com/2018/03/former-omni-superstores.html Now lets see some pictures.

The Omni Superstore logo would have been right here

The store can be very dark at times
