Shopko Hometown-Mauston Wisconsin-Store Closing February 2018

Today, we get to look at a soon to be closing Shopko Hometown in Mauston, Wisconsin. This location opened on October 2nd, 2015 on a site of a former Marathon Gas Station. It was recently announced as one of the 39 stores to close in February 2019. Lets take a look at this store from March 2018.

 Pharmacy Drive Thru

Right as your enter the store

You can easily see how everything is squished into a small space

 Payless Shoesoure Section

Health and Beauty/ What else do I see?

The Pharmacy closed, I should mention that the Pharmacy was added a year later in November 2016 from a view on Google Streetview. As you can tell, the Pharmacy failed and it closed. A clear sign of struggling business.

The Checkouts and Shopko Hometown Pantry in the distance

 The Fitting Rooms

It is clear this store was an under preforming store as we saw, that's cause there's a Kmart in town which Mauston is very small so that's why this Shopko Hometown struggled. I do hope somebody takes that location and turns into something cause Mauston in beautiful small town and would deserve it.

Kmart and Sears stores sold to U-Haul

U-Haul has made a deal with Sears Holdings to buy 13 stores for 62 million both opened or closed. Here's the list of stores effective:                                                                                                                3115 Airport Way-Fairbanks, Alaska (Sears)
308 Dix Avenue-Queensbury, New York (Kmart)
2875 Santa Maria Way-Santa Maria, California (Kmart)
4110 East Sprague Avenue-Spokane, Washington (Kmart)
5909 East State Street-Rockford, Illinois (Kmart)
20777 Bear Valley Road-Apply Valley, California (Kmart)
200 Irwin Avenue-Fort Walton Beach, Florida (Kmart)
1805 East Stone Drive-Kingsport, Tennessee (Kmart)
3250 Clear Lake Road-Springfield, Illinois (Kmart)
996 West View Park Drive-Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Kmart)
1309 North High Street-Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin (Kmart)
  17850 Frazho Road-Roseville Michigan (Kmart)
1705 South Main Street-Roswell, New Mexico (Kmart)

I'm a little shock that locations that are still opened are being sold to U-Haul. Also, the Fort Atkinson Kmart location has been closed since January 2014 and yet they still own that which I thought was strange.

Toys R Us/Babies R Us-Schaumburg Illinois

Today, we'll take a look at the Toys R Us/Babies R Us location in Schaumburg, Illinois which I've never published to Flickr yet to get some other trips up including the Iowa City trip which I took 2 to 4 days after these pics were token. This Toys R Us opened in the 90's like most of our Toys R Us locations. To be honest, this location was really boring likely cause of the liquidation sale but it was a very depressing and boring experience. Let's get to the photos

Kmart-State Street-Rockford Illinois-Closing

Kmart #4423 opened on October 7, 1971 and was 104,000 Square Feet. Sadly, this Kmart announced closing on May 31, 2018 to close in Early September, this store permanently closed on September 2nd, 2018. This closing was really sad to me cause I've been here 3 times before and all the experience has been great including talking to employees who were great as well. This location was also unique to as it was one of two locations with a white and green look which they tried out in November 2007 and they sadly never expanded the concept. Let's take the look at the liquidation of this store twice. Here's the article published about the remolded: http://www.rrstar.com/x1909898350

My Next update was in Mid-August before the store closed permanently, during this, an argument was going on between employees and a customer as the customer wanted to return an idea she bought during the liquidation sales and was not allowed to return the idea. She wasn't very happy and made a big deal about it and ended up yelling to the point were you could here her in the entire store. She said she was gonna call 911 over it and the employees said ok since it's not illegal to not be able to return an idea. If you want to return that idea, you could have shop here before the liquidation sales and be able to return if it doesn't work either. Also, she clearly didn't understand that they bring in stuff they can't sell at other stores and hope to sell them here. The employees ended up trying to call the police and they never showed up. Rockford being how it is on the West and South side has some low income people while the North and East side has the well income people so here you have idea if someone gonna have a gun or something else that could possibly injure people. Thankfully the security guard got her out without people getting injured so I do give the security guard on that. My pictures you can't tell but in my video which will be on my Youtube, you'll be able to here but not see as we do store tour here's, not fights or arguments. Let's take a look at the store

I hope you enjoyed this pictures and I hope the employees at this location have all got new jobs as this was a sad closing for alot of people including me. This was a Great Location and the employees made it so much better. During the Argument when she was super loud, I actually started to cry cause I was thinking about the employees cause there were awesome and made a Kmart in the city actually feel like a small town Kmart which people knew people. I really hope the best for this property is hopefully, it will be a great future for this location.
