Charlestowne Mall, St Charles Illinois

The Charlestowne Mall opened in 1991 as the mall in St Charles. The original anchors were Sears, JcPenney, Kohl's, and Carson's. The mall is very similar to the still operating Lincolnwood Town Center only that mall has 2 anchors. The mall basically killed another mall in St Charles, that being the St Charles Mall which closed in the late 90's after Kmart and Joseph Spiess closed. In 2000, JcPenney closed and quickly became Von Maur. The mall found compition as the Geneva Commons opened in 2004 which as lead the the death of Charlestowne. In January of 2011, Sears announced the the closing which was completed by April. In 2014, the Krausz Company decided to buy the mall and redevelop it by demolishing the Sears wing. One problem, it didn't happen which might have had Kohl's closed the location in Mid 2016 cause Kohl's was going to stay there for the renovation but the renovation never happened. In November 2017, it was announced that the Charlestowne Mall in St Charles would permently closed on December 1, 2017. Carson's, Von Maur and Classic Cinemas would stay. In April of 2018, Carson's parent company Bon-Ton filed for Chapter 7 and announced the going out of business which will leave only Von Maur as the only anchor left. Lets take a look at the 2nd to last day.
